The State Awards (State Bursaries for Adult Education) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 1991

The Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powersconferred by sections 3(c) and 4(2) and (3) of the Education Act 19621, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

S-1 These Regulations may be cited as the State Awards (State...

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the State Awards (State Bursariesfor Adult Education) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 1991 and shall comeinto force on24th May 1991.

(2) The Regulations apply to persons ordinarily resident in Wales.

2. Schedule 2 to the State Awards (State Bursaries for Adult Education)(Wales) Regulations 19792shall be amended in accordance with these Regulations.

S-3 In paragraph 1(1) of that Schedule, after the definition...

3. In paragraph 1(1) of that Schedule, after the definition of“relevant date”, there shall be inserted the following definition

““relevant territory” means the territory comprising the EuropeanCommunity and (as respects any period prior to the unification of theFederal Republic of Germany) the former German Democratic Republic;”.

S-4 In paragraphs 1(2), 3 and 5 of that Schedule there shall...

4. In paragraphs 1(2), 3 and 5 of that Schedule there shall besubstituted for the words“European Community” (wherever they appear), the words“relevant territory”.

These Regulations amend the State Awards (State Bursaries for AdultEducation) (Wales) Regulations 1979 so that, for the purpose ofdetermining eligibility for an award, residence in the former GermanDemocratic Republic prior to the unification of the Federal Republic ofGermany is treated as residence in the European Community.
