The Superannuation (Lay Observers) Order 1985

Laid before Parliament 9th December 1985

Coming into Operation 1st January 1986

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(5) of the Superannuation Act 1972 and now vested in them1, hereby make the following Order:

S-1 This Order may be cited as the Superannuation (Lay Observers)...

1. This Order may be cited as the Superannuation (Lay Observers) Order 1985 and shall come into operation on 1st January 1986.

S-2 The office of lay observer within section 45 of the Solicitors...

2. The office of lay observer within section 45 of the Solicitors Act 1974 is hereby added to the offices listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

. This Order adds the office of lay observer to the offices listed in Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972, and thereby brings persons serving as lay observers within those to whom the principal civil service pension scheme (made under section 1 of that Act) may apply.

(1) By virtue of article 2(1)(c) of the Transfer of Functions (Minister for the Civil Service and Treasury) Order 1981 (S.I. 1981/1670).
