HEREAS under the provisioiis
of
the Tees Valley Water
m’
(Consolidation) Act
1907
(liercinafter referred
to
as
the
Act of 1907”) and the Tees Valley Water Act
1914
(herein-
after referred
to
as
the Act
of
1914”)
the Tees Valley Water
Board (hereinafter referred
to
as
the Board
”)
are authorised
to
supply
ancl
do supply water within the boroughs
of
Stockton-
on-Tees Middlesbrough and Thomaby-on-Tees and other places
in tlie neighbourhood specified in the Second Schedule
to
the
Act
of 1907:

wheyeas in the year one tliousancl nine hundred and
sevecteen it was
a
matter
of
urgent necessity in order
to
enable
the Board
to
afford a sufficient supply
of
water
to
factories in
which the production
of
munitions
of
war and other
goods
were
being made that tlie construction
of
the works in this Act
described as
Works
Nos.
1

and
3
(in this Act referred to
as
the urgency
works
”)
should
be
forthwith commenced and
proceeded with and the Board
and
the corporations of
Stocli-
ton-on-?lees Xiddleshrough ancl Thornaby-on-Tees (hereinafter
together referred to
its
the corporations
”)
with the. consent
of
the Minister of Munitions under tlie presslire
of
such necessity
as
aforesaid altthorised the last-mentioned
works
to
be
forthwith
commenced and proceeded with
:
And whereas the Minister
of
Munitions advanced to the
Board the sum
of
twenty-five thousand pounds for the carrying
ont
of
the last-mentioned

twenty-five thousand
pounds wherewith to repay the said sum to the Minister

And whereas
it
is expedient that the construction
of
the
said worlis by the
Boarcl
should he conlirmed and legalised
and that the Board should be empowered to maintain the said
works
:
And whereas
it
is expedient that the Board
be
empowered
bo
make and maintain the additional waterworks and other
worlis hereinafter described
:

And whereaq by section
1%
of
the Act of
1914
provision is
made in regard to the charges
lo
be
niade
by the Board
for
mater supplied to certain large consumers under which provision
a
reduction in such charges
would
take egect on the thirty-first
day
of
December one thousand nine hundred and nineteen but
haring regard to the annual charge on the rates
of
the
horoughs
of
Stockton-on-Tees 3liddlesbrough and Thornaby-on-
Tees on account
of
the mater undertaking and to the increase
in the cost,
of
labour materials and other expenses incurred by
the Board in carrying on their undertaking and by the cor-
porations in paying the interest upon the money borron-ed for
the purposes
of
the undertaking it is expedient that such
charges should be increased
:
Aiid nhereas since the year one thousand eight hundred
ancl eighty-one the Board hare been and
are
now supplying
water to the Eston Urban District Council and its predecessois
in
pursuance of an agreement between the Board and the local
boarcl
for
the district
of
Normanby and having regard to the
circumstaiices liereinhefore mentioned
it
is expedient that the
price
of
water supplied by the Board to the said council should
be increased
:
hiid whereas since the year one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-three the
Board
have been and
are
nom supplying
water to Dorman Long
and
Coinpany Limited and their prede-
cessors omners
of
the Redcar Iron ant1 Steel Works in pursuance
of
an agreement dated the thirteenth day
of
November one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-three and made between the
