The A487 Trunk Road (Furnace, Ceredigion to north of Dovey Junction, Powys) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles) Order 2017

The Welsh Ministers, being the traffic authority for the relevant length of the Fishguard – Bangor Trunk Road (A487) (‘the trunk road’), are satisfied that traffic in specified lengths of the trunk road should be prohibited because of works proposed on or near the road.

The Welsh Ministers, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 14(1) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984( 1), make this Order.

Title, Interpretation and Commencement

1. This Order comes into force on 20 February 2017 and its title is The A487 Trunk Road (Furnace, Ceredigion to north of Dovey Junction, Powys) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles) Order 2017.

2.—(1) In this Order:

‘exempted vehicle’(‘cerbyd esempt’) means any vehicle being used by the emergency services, for winter maintenance, public transport bus services and in connection with the works giving rise to this Order;

‘the lengths of the trunk road’(‘y darnau o'r gefnffordd’) means the lengths of the trunk road in the counties of Ceredigion and Powys specified in the Schedules to this Order;

‘works period’(‘cyfnod y gwaith’) means the period commencing at 09:00 hours on 20 February 2017 and ending when the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed.

(2) Any reference in this Order to a numbered article or Schedule is a reference to the article or Schedule bearing that number in this Order.

Prohibitions

3. No person shall, during the works period, drive or cause or permit any vehicle, other than an exempted vehicle, to proceed in the lengths of the trunk road specified in Schedule 1.

4. No person shall, during the works period, drive or cause or permit any vehicle with a width of or greater than 2.5 metres, other than an exempted vehicle, to proceed in the lengths of the trunk road specified in Schedule 2.

Application

5. The prohibitions in articles 3 and 4 apply only during such times and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs.

Duration of this Order

6. The maximum duration of this Order shall be 18 months.
