The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Old Warden) Regulations 2021

The Secretary of State has decided that it is in the public interest to restrict flying in the vicinity of Old Warden Aerodrome, Bedfordshire, by reason of the intended holding of flying displays that are scheduled to take place there.

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by article 239 of the Air Navigation Order 2016(1).

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Old Warden) Regulations 2021 and come into force on 2nd May 2021.

Interpretation

2. In regulation 3(3) the times referred to are Co-ordinated Universal Time(2).

Restricted airspace

3.—(1) Subject to paragraph (4), and during the periods specified in paragraph (3), no aircraft is to fly below 3,500 feet above mean sea level within the area bounded by—

(a) the clockwise arc of a circle having a radius of 3 nautical miles whose centre is at 520512N 0001917W between 520713N 0001528W and 520810N 0002010W,

(b) a straight line joining 520810N 0002010W and 520708N 0001947W,

(c) a clockwise arc of a circle having a radius of 2 nautical miles whose centre is at 520512N 0001907W between 520708N 0001947W and 520631N 0001643W, and

(d) a straight line joining 520631N 0001643W and 520713N 0001528W.

(2) Subject to paragraph (4), and during the periods specified in paragraph (3), no aircraft is to fly between 1,500 and 3,500 feet above mean sea level within the area bounded by—

(a) a straight line joining 520708N 0001947W and 520810N 0002010W,

(b) a clockwise arc of a circle having a radius of 3 nautical miles whose centre is at 520512N 0001907W between 520810N 0002010W and 520713N and 0001528W,

(c) a straight line joining 520713N 0001528W and 520631N 0001643W, and

(d) an anti-clockwise arc of a circle having a radius of 2 nautical miles whose centre is at 520512N 0001907W between 520631N 0001643W and 520708N and 0001947W.

(3) The periods referred to in paragraphs (1) and (2) are—

(a) between 1245 hours and 1730 hours on 2nd May 2021, 6th June 2021, 4th July 2021, 1st August 2021, 6th September 2021 and 2nd October 2021,

(b) between 1645 hours and 2020 hours on 15th May 2021,

(c) between 1645 hours and 2025 hours on 19th June 2021,

(d) between 1645 hours and 2015 hours on 17th July 2021, and

(e) between 1645 hours and 2000...
