e Tur in as be stos tria l, known in Italy by the trade name Eternit, which has been
reported on at both previous stages in this journal (2012/1 and 2013/3) by Professor
Astolfo di Amato, the chief defence lawyer, ended on 19 November 2014 with the
acquittal by the Ita lian Court of Cassazione of the sole remai ning defendant, Stephan
Schmidheiny.
Professor di Amato wil l continue his series of insights i nto the conduct of the
defence in an art icle to be published in the  rst edition of 2015.  erea er it is hoped
to publish commentaries on the case by observers not connected with either the
prosecution or the defence and to cover any other initiat ives the Italian prosecution
service may opt to take i n this controversial case.

is con rms that the prosecution seems to be planning an Eternit No. 2. So
acquittal at the h ighest instance is not necess arily the end of the road for the defendant.
