The Judicial Review and Courts Act 2022 (Magistrates’ Court Sentencing Powers) (Revocation and Amendment) Regulations 2023

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 13(10) of the Judicial Review and Courts Act 20221
Citation, commencement and extent
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Judicial Review and Courts Act 2022 (Magistrates’ Court Sentencing Powers) (Revocation and Amendment) Regulations 2023.
(2) These Regulations come into force on the day after the day they are made.
(3) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.
Amendment to the Bail Act 1976
2.—(1) In section 6(7) of the Bail Act 19762, for “the general limit in a magistrates’ court” substitute “12 months”.
(2) In Part 1 of the Schedule to the Judicial Review and Courts Act 2022 (Magistrates’ Court Sentencing Powers) Regulations 20233the entry relating to section 6(7) of the Bail Act 1976 is revoked.
Amendments to the Judicial Review and Courts Act 2022 (Magistrates’ Court Sentencing Powers) Regulations 2023
3.—(1) In regulation 13(2) insert the words “In section 3,” before the words “after subsection (7) insert”.
(2) In regulation 20(2), (3) and (4), the subsection inserted by paragraph (a) is renumbered “(3A)”.
