1845. the queen v. james smith. (The following forged document held to be properly described in the indictment as a warrant. " To Molmeux and Co. Pay to my order two months after date, to Mr. John Smith, the sum of £80, and deduct the same out of my account. There was no signature. Across the document was written " accepted. Luke Lade." It was indorsed, " John Smith, farmer, Hailsham, Sussex.") [S. C. 1 Car. & Kir. 700.] At the Lewes Spring Assizes, 1845, James Smith was convicted before Lord Denman C. J., of the felonious uttering of a forged warrant for payment of money l DEN. 80. THE QUEEN V. SARAH WILLIS 159 with intent to defraud Messrs. Molineux, bankers The case was completely proved, if the wilting uttered was properly described as a warrant It was in these terms : der two month after date, to Mr. John out of my account. " john smith Farmer, Hailsham, Sussex " To Molineux and Co -Paylt Smith, the sum of £80, and deductit No signature-moo £80.
