The Social Security (Lebanon) Amendment Regulations 2006

Made 24th July 2006

Laid before Parliament 24th July 2006

Coming into force 25th July 2006

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 123(1)(a), (d) and (e), 131(3)(b), 135(1) and (2), 137(1) and (2) and 175(1), (3) and (4) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 19921, sections 4(5) and (12), 35(1) and 36(2) and (4) of, and paragraph 11 of Schedule 1 to, the Jobseekers Act 19952and sections 1(5)(a) and 17(1) of the State Pension Credit Act 20023.

In respect of the provisions in these Regulations relating to housing benefit and council tax benefit, the Secretary of State has not consulted with organisations appearing to him to be representative of the authorities concerned because it appears to him to be inexpedient to do so by reason of the urgency of the matter4.

For the same reason it also appears to him to be inexpedient to refer proposals to make these Regulations to the Social Security Advisory Committee5.
