The Stroud (Electoral Changes) Order 2024

Made 24th January 2024

Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2)

Under section 92(2) of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 20071, Stroud District Council (“the Council”) made recommendations in a review to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England2for the related alteration of the boundaries of a number of district wards within the Council’s area.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has decided to give effect to the recommendations and makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 92(3) of that Act.

S-1 Citation, commencement, extent and application

Citation, commencement, extent and application

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Stroud (Electoral Changes) Order 2024.

(2) This Order comes into force—

(a)

(a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of councillors, on the day after the day on which it is made;

(b)

(b) for all other purposes, on the ordinary day of election of councillors in England3in 2024.

(3) This Order extends to England and Wales but applies in relation to England only.

S-2 Alteration of district ward boundaries

Alteration of district ward boundaries

2.—(1) The area that ceases to be part of the parish of Stonehouse and becomes part of the parish of Great Oldbury by virtue of the Stroud District Council (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2023 (“the Order”)4ceases to be part of the Stonehouse district ward and becomes part of the Severn district ward.

(2) The area that ceases to be part of the parish of Standish and becomes part of the parish of Great Oldbury by virtue of the Order ceases to be part of the Hardwicke district ward and becomes part of the Severn district ward.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order gives effect to recommendations made by Stroud District Council (“the Council”) to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England for related alterations to the boundaries between a number of district wards in the Council’s area.
