The Territorial Sea (Limits) (Amendment) Order 2013

The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 1(2) of the Territorial Sea Act 19871, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

S-1 This Order may be cited as the Territorial Sea (Limits)...

1. This Order may be cited as the Territorial Sea (Limits) (Amendment) Order 2013 and comes into force on 31st March 2014.

S-2 The Territorial Sea (Limits) Order 1989 is amended as follows:...

2. The Territorial Sea (Limits) Order 19892is amended as follows:

“(i)

“(i) Article 4(b) shall be amended to read:

“(b) all positions given by means of coordinates are defined on World Geodetic System 1984 Datum (WGS84)”; and

(ii)

(ii) The Schedule to the Order shall be amended to read as in the Schedule to this Order.”

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Territorial Sea (Limits) Order 1989 to reflect the agreement between the United Kingdom and France that the coordinates of the points defining the territorial sea boundary between the United Kingdom and France in the Straits of Dover should be reformulated in World Geodetic Datum System 1984 (WGS 84). The agreement between the United Kingdom and France is constituted by the Exchange of Letters done at Paris on 20 April 2011 (Cm 8146).
