Finance directors in the retail industry receive some of the biggest salaries in the sector, according to William M Mercer's 2001 survey of pay, benefits and human resource policies in retail. Finance directors earn an average of 153,000 [pounds sterling] a year, compared with 96,000 [pounds sterling] for a buying director, 72,500 [pounds sterling] for a marketing director and just 30,250 [pounds sterling] for a store manager.
