Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 82 of the Turks and Caicos Islands (Constitution) Orders 1976 to 1986( a) and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, including section 5 of the West Indies Act 1962 ( b), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:--

Citation and Commencement

1.--(1) This Order may be cited as the Turks and Caicos Islands (Laws) (Interim Amendment) Order 1986.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on such day as the Governor, acting in his discretion, may appoint by proclamation published in theGazette.

Duration of Order

2. This Order shall continue in force for the period of two years beginning from the date of the commencement of this Order and shall then expire unless it is continued in force or sooner revoked by Order in Council made by Her Majesty in exercise of the powers aforesaid.

Amendment of Law

3. So long as this Order is in operation where in any law of the Turks and Caicos Islands there is a reference to the Chief Minister, a Minister or a Permanent Secretary or to any power, duty or function of the Chief Minister, a Minister or a Permanent Secretary any such reference shall be read and construed as a reference to the Governor, acting in his discretion, or, as the case may be, to any power, duty or function of the Governor and in the exercise or performance thereof the Governor shall act in his discretion.
