Anno decimo septimo GEORGII II. Regis. An Act to continue the several Laws therein mentioned for preventing Test and Rapine on the Northern Borders ofEngland ; for the more effectual punishing wicked and evil disposed Persons going armed in Disguise, and doing Injuries and Violences to the Persons and Properties of his Majesty's Subjects, and for the more speedy bringing the Offenders to Justice; for continuing two Clauses to prevent the cutting or breaking down the Bank of any River, or Sea Bank, and to prevent the malicious cutting of Hop-binds; and for the more effectual Punishment of Persons maliciously setting on Fire any Mine, Pit or Delph of Coal, or Cannel Coal; and of Persons unlawfully hunting or taking any Red or Fallow Deer in Forests or Chaces, or beating or wounding the Keepers or other Officers in Forests, Chaces or Parks; and for granting a Liberty to carry Sugars of the Growth, Produce or Manufacture of any of his Majesty's Sugar Colonies in America , from the said Colonies directly to foreign Parts in Ships built in Great Britain , and navigated according to Law; and to explain two Acts relating to the Prosecution of Offenders for embeziling Naval Stores, or Stores of War; and to prevent the retailing of Wine within either of the Universities in that Part of Great Britain called England without Licence.

'WHEREAS the Laws herein after mentioned, which have by Experience been found useful and beneficial, are near expiring;' May it therefore please your Majesty that it may be enacted; and be it enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority of the same, That an Actmade in the thirteenth and fourteenth Years of the Reign of King Charles the Second, intituled,An Act for preventing of Theft and Rapine upon the Northern Borders of England, which by several Acts hath from Time to Time been continued; and which by an Act made in the sixth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty, intituled, Chester, Lancaster Durham, York (Charles England; ; was further continued until the first DayofSeptember one thousand seven hundred and forty-four, and from thence to the Endof the then next Session of Parliament, shall be, and the same is hereby further continued from the Expiration thereof, until the twenty-fourth Day ofJune , which shall be in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty-one, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament.

II. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That all and every the Clauses, Powers and Authorities mentioned in the said Act made in the sixth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty, relating to the said Act made in the thirteenth and fourteenth Year of the Reign of King Charles the Second, or for the more effectual preventing of Theft and Rapine upon the Northern Borders ofEngland ; and which by the said Act made in the sixth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty, were to continue in Force until the first Day of September one thousand seven hundred and forty-four, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament, shall be, and the same are hereby continued, from the Expiration thereof until the twenty-fourth Day of June , which shall be in the Year of our Lordone thousand seven hundred and fifty-one, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament.

III. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That an Act made in the ninth Year of the Reign of his late Majesty King George the First, intituled,An Act for the more effectual punishing wicked and evil disposed Persons going armed in Disguise, and doing Injuries and Violences to the Persons and Properties of his Majesty's Subjects, and for the more speedy bringing the Offenders to Justice; which was to continue in Force for three Years, from the first Day of June one thousand seven hundred and twenty-three, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament; and which by an Actmade in the twelfth Year of the Reign of his said late Majesty was continued from the Expiration thereof for five Years, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament; and which by a Clause in another Act made in the sixth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty, intituled, Chester, Lancaster Durham, York (Charles England; ; was further continued until the first Day ofSeptember one thousand seven hundred and thirty-six, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament; and which by another Act made in the tenth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty, intituled, ; was further continued from the Expirationthereof until the first Day ofSeptember in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty-four, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament; shall be and is hereby further continued from the Expiration thereof, until the twenty-fourth Day of June which shall be in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty-one, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament.

IV. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That the Clause in the said Act made in the said sixth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty, which enacts, That if any Person or Persons, during the Continuance of the said Act made in the said ninth Year of the Reign of his said late Majesty King George the First, shall unlawfully and maliciously break or cut down the Bank or Banks of any River or any Sea Banks, whereby any Lands shall be overflowed or damaged, every such Person being thereof lawfully convicted, shall be adjudged guilty of Felony, and shall suffer Death without Benefit of Clergy; and which by another Acts made in the said tenth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty,was further continued during the Continuance of the aforementioned Act made in the ninth Year of the Reign of his said late Majesty, shall be and is hereby further continued, from the Expiration thereof, until the twenty-fourth Day ofJune which shall be in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty-one, and from thence to the End of the then next Session of Parliament.

And be it further enacted by the Authority aforesaid, That another Clause in the said Act, made in the said sixth Year of the Reign of his present Majesty, which enacts, That if any Person or Persons, during the Continuance of the said Act made in the ninth Year of the Reign of his said late Majesty King George the First, shall unlawfully and maliciously cut any Hop-binds, growing on Poles in any Plantation of Hops, every such Person or Persons, being thereof lawfully convicted, shall be guilty of Felony, and shall suffer Death without Benefit of Clergy; and which by another Act made in the said tenth Yearof the Reign of his present Majesty, was further continued during the Continuance of the before mentioned Act, intituled,An Act for the more effectual punishing wicked and evil disposed Persons,...
