The Urban District Council Election Rules 1971

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 29 of the Representation of the People Act 1949(a), I hereby make the following Rules for the conduct of an election of urban district councillors :—

1. These Rules may be cited as the Urban District Council Election Rules 1971 and shall come into operation on 14th April 1971.

2. After Rule 10 in Schedule 1 to the Urban District Council Election Rules 1969(b) there shall be inserted the following Rule :—

"10A. Any person may, at all reasonable times after the latest time for the delivery of nomination papers and before the day of election, inspect and take copies of and extracts from nomination papers and consents to nomination.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Rules.)

These Rules amend the Urban District Council Election Rules 1969 so as to reflect the amendment made to the Local Elections Rules (set out in Schedule 2 to the Representation of the People Act 1949) by section 2 of the Local Authorities (Qualifications of Members) Act 1971 (c. 7).
