The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council
WHEREAS Her Majesty deems it expedient to amend the Order in Council of 25th September 1964, as amended(a), the Royal Warrant of 19th September 1964(b), as amended(c), and the Order by Her Majesty of 24th September 1964(d), as amended(e), (hereinafter collectively referred to as "the 1964 Service Instruments") concerning pensions and other grants in respect of disablement or death due respectively to service in the naval, military or air forces during the 1914 World War and after 2nd September 1939 and to do so by Order in Council in accordance with section 12(1) of the Social Security (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1977(f):
NOW, THEREFORE, Her Majesty, in accordance with those powers and of all other powers whatsoever(g) Her thereunto enabling, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered that, notwithstanding anything in the 1964 Service Instruments, the following provisions of this Order shall take effect accordingly and, except in the cases stated in the Order in Council of 19th December 1881, in the Warrant of Her Majesty Queen Victoria of 27th October 1884 or in the Order by His Majesty King George V of 13th January 1922, and except as otherwise provided by statute, shall be established and obeyed as the sole authority in the matters herein treated of.

Citation, commencement and interpretation
1. This Order, which may be cited as the War Pensions (Amendment of Previous Instruments) Order 1977, shall come into operation on 14th November 1977 so, however, that in relation to any award payable weekly the foregoing reference to 14th November 1977, where this is not the normal weekly pay day for that award, shall be construed as a reference to the first normal weekly pay day for that award following 14th November 1977.
Substitution of Schedules to the 1964 Service Instruments
2. For Schedules 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 to the 1964 Service Instruments (rates of pensions and other grants payable in respect of disablement or death due to service in the naval, military or, as the case may be, air forces during the 1914 World War and after 2nd September 1939) there shall be substituted—
(a) in the Order in Council of 25th September 1964, the Schedules set out in Part I of the Appendix hereto and numbered 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 respectively;
(b) in the Royal Warrant of 19th September 1964, the Schedules set out in Part II of that Appendix and numbered 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 respectively;
(c) in the Order by Her Majesty of 24th September 1964, the Schedules set out in Part III of that Appendix and numbered 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 respectively.
Amendment of Articles 17 and 42 of the 1964 Service Instruments
3.—(1) In paragraph (2) of Article 17 (unemployability allowances) of the 1964 Service Instruments for the sum "£468" there shall be substituted the sum "£520".
(2) In Article 42 (marriage of female persons) of the 1964 Service Instruments—
(a) in paragraph (1) for the words "cohabits as a wife" there shall be substituted the words "lives with a man as his wife";
(b) in paragraphs (5), (6) and (7) for the words "cohabiting as a wife" there shall be substituted the words "living with a man as his wife";
(c) in paragraph (6) for the word "cohabit" there shall be substituted the words "live with a man as his wife".
