An Act for making a Railway to the Crystal Palace,
with Branches
to
the London, Brighton, and
South Coast Railway and
to
the London and
South-western Railway. [4th August 1853.]
HEREAS the Construction of a Railway to commence from
the London and South-western Railway at or near its Junc-
tion with the Windsor, Staines, and Richmond Railway
in the Parish of Saint Mary Battersea, and to terminate in the Crystal
Palace Park in tt

Branch Railway to lead from the Main Line of
Railway in the Crystal Palace Park aforesaid, and to form a Junction
with the London, Brighton, and South Coast Railway, at or near the
Norwood Station on the said Railway, and also another Branch Rail-
way to connect the said Railway with the South End of the Bridge
now in the course of Erection across the River Thames to lead from
Chelsea to Battersea Park, together with a Wharf and Landing Place
near to or adjoining the said Bridge, all in the County of Surrey,
would be of great public Advantage, by opening an additional, certain,
and expeditious Means of Communication between the West End of
London and the Crystal Palace at Norwood and other Places, and
also by facilitating Communication between more distant Towns and

Places : And whereas the Persons herein-after named, with others,
are willing at their own Expense to carry such Undertaking into
execution, but the same cannot be effected without the Authority
of Parliament: May it therefore please Your Majesty that it may
be enacted; and be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty,
by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Tem-
poral, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the
Authority of the same, as follows; (that is to say,)

Title.
HI, That in citing this Act in other Acts of Parliament, and in
legal Instruments, it shall be sufficient to use the Expression " The
West London and Crystal Palace Railway Act,
1853."

Webb, and all other Persons and Corporations who have already sub-
scribed or shall hereafter subscribe to the Undertaking, and their
Executors, Administrators, Successors, and Assigns respectively, shall
be united into a Company for the Purpose of making and maintaining
the Railways herein-after mentioned, and for such Purpose shall be
incorporated by the Name of " The West End of London and Crystal
Palace Railway Company," and by that Name shall be a Body Cor-
porate with perpetual Succession, and shall have Power to purchase
and hold Lands for the Purposes of the Undertaking, within the
Restrictions herein and in the said Acts contained.

this Act.
Number and VI. That the Number of Shares into which the said Capital shall
