61 flats plan 'too much'

Planning officers with Kirklees Council said the "unacceptable heights and massing" of the proposed blocks would affect the privacy of nearby houses as well as outlook and natural light. Among the objectors were Historic England and the council's own conservation team.

Planning consultant Hamish Gledhill asked the council to defer the application in order to properly assess the information surrounding it, rather than voting for refusal. He said 22 amended drawings had been "overlooked" by the authority in March but they would have been consulted upon had they been available. He said that had caused "huge prejudice" to the applicant.
