The International Driving Permits (Fees) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019

The Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 56(1) of the Finance Act 19731, makes the following Regulations.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the International Driving Permits (Fees) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 and come into force on 1st February 2019.

2. The Secretary of State may charge a fee of £5.50 for the issue of an international driving permit in the format set out in Annex 7 to the Convention on Road Traffic done at Vienna on 8th November 19682.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations make provision for the Secretary of State to charge a fee of £5.50 for the issue of international driving permits under the 1968 Convention on Road Traffic (Cm 9570) in anticipation of that Convention coming into force for the United Kingdom on 28th March 2019.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen. An Explanatory Memorandum is published alongside the instrument on www.legislation.gov.uk.

The 1968 Convention on Road Traffic was published on 7th February 2018 in the Miscellaneous Series of treaties on gov.uk as Miscellaneous Series No. 1 (2018).
