The Legal Advice and Assistance (Financial Conditions) Regulations 1984

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1 and 20 of the Legal Aid Act 1974(a), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Financial Conditions) Regulations 1:84 and shall come into operation on 26th November 1984.

(2) In these Regulations, "the Act" means the Legal Aid Act 1974.

2. For the weekly sum of £103 specified in section 1(1)(a) of the Act, there shall be substituted the weekly sum of £108.

3. For the capital sum of £730 specified in section 1(1) of the Act, there shall be substituted the sum of£765.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations increase the disposable income limit for the availability of legal advice and assistance under Part 1 of the Legal Aid Act 1974 from £103 to £108 a week and increase the disposable capital limit from £730 to £765.
