Crim
reforms may need reforming and can become equally as rigid as those whose rigidity
they rightly criticize.
The study was very much a preliminary venture into this important area of
reform.
Future
efforts will need to explore the opinions
and
experiences of
complainants, the public attitudes to the complaint's system, and to the detailed
operation of the system itself. Nevertheless, McMahon and Ericson have made an
important contribution which reformers and police alike will benefit from reading.
