The full application was put forward by Mr and Mrs Colin Bullock at Spy Cottage, Longley Lane

Planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council were told by Mr and Mrs Bullock they were intending to raise the eaves and ridge height at the cottage. Single storey rear and side extensions and render to existing brickwork were included.

The application related to a detached chalet bungalow located along Longley Lane within the open countryside in the Green Belt according to a report.

In 2022 approval was granted for the demolition of the existing cottage and the erection of a replacement.

Tarvin and Kelsall ward councillors Tom Cooper and Ted Lush had no observations and there were no comments from Kelsall Parish Council or from neighbours who were notified.

The proposal would exceed 30% of the original dwelling and would not meet policy but the existing permission was a significant issue, the report explained.

Both proposals would result in equal harm but the previous approval had not been found to amount to inappropriate development in the Green Belt.
