Andre: Town 'need to stand over the line'

The Terriers conceded deep into stoppage time as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate on Saturday, a result that sent them into the relegation zone at this late stage of the season

The late goal was a particularly cruel blow for Town as it came about in controversial circumstances, with Breitenreiter describing the decision to award a penalty in the ninth minute of injury time as "totally wrong", which Nahki Wells went on to convert.

Town now have to pick themselves up for three decisive games. They face 14th-placed Swansea City next up at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday, before hosting fourth from bottom Birmingham City in a huge clash at the bottom of the table. Breitenreiter's side complete their campaign with an away trip to promotion-chasing Ipswich Town.

The Terriers' boss acknowledged that there is nothing his side can do about the penalty award, and wants them to focus on their own performances as they chase the points they need to stay in the division.

"We cannot change it, we have to concentrate on the team," Breitenreiter told BBC Radio Leeds. "There it was the last situation of the game, it was 98 [minutes played], we wanted to play 95.

"Sometimes it's like today, everything is against you.

"We have to concentrate on our performances, and we want to try to play the best in the last three games, and I'm sure when we play like today over 90 minutes, it's possible to get many points.

"[What's] important is after the last game, then we should have a look on the table, and then we need to stand over the line."

Breitenreiter felt his call to the players before the game for a 90-minute performance was answered on Saturday, as the Terriers came within a whisker of securing what would have been a crucial three points in their battle against the drop.

Town's head coach was pleased to see a more consistent showing from his team at Ashton Gate, after they relinquished a 1-0 half-time lead at Preston North End to lose 4-1 in their previous game.
