CHRIS WILDER said teenage striker Antwoine Hackford's debut was a rare "bright spot" on another dark day for Sheffield United.

But the Blades boss warned he will not be enlisting more kids to fight against an increasingly inevitable relegation, claiming: "It would destroy some of the young players at our place."

Sheffield-born Hackford (inset), aged 16 and 288 days, came off the bench to become the club's youngest Premier League player.

The England youth international added much-needed energy and directness to a feeble display and had a late shot blocked.

Wilder said: "You're scratching your head in terms of what you can do off the bench and I suppose one of the bright spots of the day is Antwoine getting on the pitch as a 16-year-old.

"So I'm delighted with that - and he can surely be proud...
