'Beer drinker's paradise' marks special milestone

The West Riding, sometimes called the West Riding Refreshment Rooms, can be found at Dewsbury railway station and is situated in the original waiting room on Platform 2, which is a Grade II-listed building

The pub is known for its rotating cask ale selection, which goes down well with those partaking in the TransPennine Real Ale Trail.

The pub also serves food and puts on various live music acts, and displays a poster to celebrate its birthday which states: "Celebrating 30 years of The West Riding. Making people miss trains for 30 years!"

The West Riding is run by Dewsburybased Beerhouses, an independent pub company which also operates The Sportsman in Huddersfield and The Cricketers in Horbury, near Wakefield, among others.

Online reviewers of The West Riding tend to single out the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Nicola, in a review on Google, called it a "lovely pub with a great drink selection" and singled it out for its great atmosphere.

She warned: "Gets very busy when they have bands on, which is lovely."
