Bloomfield's on the road to success as Wembley beckons

The 40-year-old is known as 'Mr Wycombe' after spending over 20 years at Adams Park as player and now manager

But he is actually a Suffolk lad and as a result gets up at 4.30am EVERY DAY to make a five-hour, 250-mile round trip to Buckinghamshire.

He even picks up his coaching staff, including assistant Richard Thomas, on the way after a promise made to wife Madeleine.

Bloomfield was fully committed as a player and similar qualities are emerging as a manager.

And his car is certainly the place for all thoughts and views on how to beat Peterborough in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy at Wembley today.

The Chairboys chief said: "I used to live nearby but I promised my wife when our children were old enough we would school them in Felixstowe around family and friends.

"At that point my playing career was coming to an end - or what looked like an end. I thought it was a promise I could uphold.

"Little did I realise we would get two more promotions and another four years on my career.

"My family are settled, my wife and my girls are absolutely everything to me.

"As long as they are happy, I'm good.

"I get up at 4.30am and leave home and do a full day's work.

"I pick up the staff en route as we all live around the M25.

"It's sacrifices I need to make for my wife, girls and the job. I love my family and I love my job. The journey takes two-and-ahalf hours on a good trip - if I'm lucky. If I leave too late it could take me three-and-ahalf hours.
