AUST. &N.Z. JOURNAL OF CRIMINOLOGY (19,69):2, 161
more accessible and
more
numerous
English and American to such
"exotic"
forces as Muscat and Matruh, Mongolia,
and
the
Portuguese Sanitary Police. Of
local interest is the pictorial prominence
given [quite rightly] to
the
Commonwealth
Police Force.
Collecting this wide range of material
single-handed necessarily has
taken
time
so
that
some minor inaccuracies have
crept in; for example,
South
Vietnam's
National Police have been wearing for
some years
their
"proposed uniforms".
There
are
one or
two
obvious
errors
such as confusing
our
senior constable
rank
with
first class constable, and
our
first class constable
with
anon-existent
rank
of second class. On
page
5
the
word
"woman"
has
been
left
out
of
the
caption
describing afemale constable of
the
Antigua,
Montserrat
and British Virgin
Islands Police Force.
This unique collection makes interesting
viewing
but
its price is sufficiently high
to place it
out
of
the
reach of most; only
recommended therefore for libraries, police
"aficionados" (if
there
are
such), and
the
waiting rooms of police surgeons.
