The County Courts Jurisdiction (Inheritance—Provision for Family and Dependants) Order 1981

Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 22(4) of the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975(a), and a period of forty days beginning with the day of laying has expired and neither House has resolved that the Order be not made:

Now, therefore, the Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 22(1) of the said Act, hereby makes the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the County Courts Jurisdiction (Inheritance—Provision for Family and Dependants) Order 1981 and shall come into operation on 1st December 1981.

2. The sum of £5,000 specified in section 22(1) of the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, and increased to £15,000 by the County Courts Jurisdiction (Inheritance—Provision for Family and Dependants) Order 1978(b), shall be increased to £30,000.

3. The County Courts Jurisdiction (Inheritance—Provision for Family and Dependants) Order 1978 is revoked.
