Cov couple find secret hidden well in their living room

Shaniah Lloyd, 28, and partner Ross Bennett, 25, made the amazing discovery when they were carrying out renovations at their home

They were lifting the floorboards at their Edwardian house and were shocked to find a ring of bricks with a deep pit in the middle in front of the bay window.

While Ross is thrilled with the discovery,

Shaniah, a postwoman, admits she is 'half excited, half terrified.' .' But the couple now plan to make the most of the surprise addition to their home - making it a feature by adding a glass top and lights inside.

Having climbed inside, Ross found wet clay - and thinks it if was dug, it would reach water and be a functioning well.

"We couldn't believe it," said Shaniah. "I'm half really excited and half terrified. Ross just thinks it's great. I've watched the Ring though, and Silence of the Lambs, so I'm a bit freaked out by it as well as excited."

Archives have revealed that their two-bed terraced home sits on the site of a former farm.

But, having bought their first home together for £192,000 back in November, the couple only just made the discovery.

They pair had started a renovation project on the property, which has not been updated since the 1960s. They had taken up the living room floorboards on March 10 to have the boiler replaced.
