Covid Scotland: 10 Glasgow neighbourhoods with highest confirmed virus rates

One neighbourhood has a 7 day rate per population of almost 2000 cases per 100,000 people.

Public Health Scotland data shows 10 neighbourhoods have a 7 day rate of over a 1500 between September 2 and 8 - the highest seen this year.

The figures are reported as the Health Secretary Humza Yousaf has urged people "not to leave the job half done" on being vaccinated against Covid-19 and take up their second dose.

Yesterday, hospital figures were shown to have reached the highest since February 2021, yet thankfully have remained below the peak of the 2,053 admissions during the second wave in January.

The latest figures published by the Scottish Government on Saturday recorded 10 coronavirus-linked deaths and 4,289 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The figures indicated there were 985 people with recently confirmed Covid-19 in hospital, up eight on the previous day. Of the 985 people in hospital, 83 were in intensive care, up one on the previous day.

Up until September 8, over 100 neighbourhoods in the city are reporting a seven-day positivity rate of more than 400 per 100,000 of the population, the highest available.

Old Shettleston and Parkhead north had the highest rate of positive cases, with a rate of 1938.9 and 94 cases reported.
