CURTAIN GOES UP ON THEATRE SHOWS

Scotland's oldest working theatre, in Shakespeare Street, had to close its doors for 488 days during the pandemicand only recently opened its doors to live audiences again and it is full Steamie ahead.

Theatre director, Mark Alexander, said:"It is so good to be back welcoming audiences new and old to live performances again. We hope there is something for everyone to come with drama, comedy, and music of all sorts - and, of course, our traditional family pantomime, Snow White.

"We also have a packed programme of local community events and Youth Theatre during the next few months."

Tonight sees A Night of Country Music with Ali Donowho, who normally fronts the band, Lowdown Highway.

This weekend the theatre's young performers,TheMusicalTheatreGroup,will be staging their show, Annie Jr with performances at 2pm and 7pm tomorrow and 2pm on Sunday.

And theThe Guild of Players are also bringing back the much loved comedyThe Steamie - set in 1950's Glasgow - from September 25 to October 2, and are busy in rehearsals for it, directed by Alan Ritson.

Then they'll be learning their lines for their family pantomime when the Guild will present Snow White by Ben Crocker for the first time. Shows will run from Saturday, November 27, to

Saturday, December 1.
