Defeat sees Mariners slip out of play-off spots

Elliot Dickman's side made their way to the North West looking to continue a remarkable run of form that was extended by Friday's impressive home win against Spennymoor Town

But the Mariners were unable to secure yet another win as an early goal from Isaac Sinclair laid the foundations for a first defeat in six games.

Sinclair doubled his tally and his side's lead on the hour-mark with a neat finish beyond the helpless Myles Boney, and that was enough to claim all three points for the hosts.

Elsewhere, Spennymoor Town are firmly in contention for the play-offs spots after they moved one point and one place behind South Shields with a 3-1 home win against Farsley Celtic.

Ben Atkinson fired the visitors in front with quarter of an hour gone at Brewery Field but Will Harris, Reece Staunton and Rob Ramshaw all netted to give the Moors a hard-earned three points.

Darlington's hopes of remaining in step two received a much-needed boost as Steve Watson's men took the honours in their visit to Warrington Town.
