Drivers facing soaring prices at the pumps

The average cost of filling a typical family car with petrol has passed £100 for the first time with new figures from data firm Experian Catalist showing the average price of a litre of petrol currently stands at 182.3p. As of Wednesday, the average price of a litre of diesel was 188.1p

It comes at a time when millions of people across the country are being forced to cut back amid the crippling cost of living crisis.

Some forecourts across Yorkshire are already selling fuel above £2 per litre. Hartshead Moor Service Station, near Brighouse on the M62, is currently charging 204.9p for a litre of diesel. Petrol at the service station currently stands at 199.9p per litre.

And a litre of petrol at the Moto Services in Kirk Deighton, Wetherby, on the A1(M) is currently setting drivers back 202.9p.

It means drivers in Huddersfield are sure to be on the lookout for the cheapest petrol stations in the town.
