EdgeConneX To Buy Indonesia Data Center Campus.

US-based data center company EdgeConneX will further expand its presence in Asia with the acquisition of GTN Data Center in Indonesia, the company said.

This marks EdgeConneX ninth market in Asia that is either established or under development as it continues rapidly building out its data center platform in the region.

Strategically located in Bekasi Cikarang, part of greater Jakarta, GTN has been operating a Tier 3 certified data center since 2016.

GTN was established via a joint venture between Japan's Mitsui and local IT distributor and integrator, PT Multipolar Technology, which is part of Indonesian conglomerate Lippo Group.

In addition, EdgeConneX has acquired a plot of land directly adjacent to GTN, allowing for a future hyperscale data center campus that could ultimately support more than 90 MWs of capacity.

Having announced plans to build a pan-Indian data center platform through a joint venture, AdaniConneX, as well as announcing a strategic investment in Chayora, a data center operator in China, the acquisition of the GTN Data Center in Indonesia represents the 3rd major country in Asia that EdgeConneX has entered as part of its global expansion strategy.
