This is my last editorial as editor-in-chief of the International Review of Administrative
Sciences. Having succeeded Christopher Pollitt in 2013, I will have completed more than
10 years when I stand aside on 31 December 2023. At the time of writing, I do not know
who will occupy the editor’s chair, but whoever they are, they have my support and confi-
dence. Over the last decade, IRAS has grown in strength, coverage and scientificintegrity.
I cannot take credit for this as I inherited a journal in robust good health, an integral part
of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences and its constituent entities –the
European Group for Public Administration (EGPA), the International Association of
Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), the Latin American Group for Public
Administration (LAGPA), and the Asian Group for Public Administration (AGPA) –
thanks to the outstanding skill and commitment of my predecessor. Furthermore, during
my tenure we have worked as an editorial team and my fellow editors deserve much of
the credit:

•Shamsul Haque of the National University of Singapore, Singapore
•Sabina Kuhlman of Potsdam University, Germany
•Martial Pasquier of the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration, Lausanne,

In all of this and over several editors-in-chief, the incomparable Catherine Humblet has
led, managed and steered the journal as it climbed the rankings and contributed to its
