WEannounced in our last issue that with the January 1933
number we proposed to introduce various alterations
in
THE
POLICE
JOURNAL.
In
effect, as we have already ex-
plained, our aim will be to make
THE
POLICE
JOURNAL
an
organ of greater topical interest, to include records of con-
temporary events concerning the Police Forces, and to
publish articles dealing with the various aspects of police
work, descriptions of recent cases of crime, and contributions
which will be useful for purposes of promotion.
This is largely a venture of faith. It is a venture of faith
in two respects. First, we can only carry out these changes
and continue to make improvements if we receive adequate
support. We have already commented on the fact that there
are many Forces in which not a
single
copy of
THE
POLICE
JOURNAL
is taken. We would once more emphasize that our
future programme is conditional on an all-round improvement
in this respect. We hope that the changes which we shall
introduce, and the circularization which we shall undertake,
will vastly increase the number of subscribers. But much of
this work must be done, if at all, by our friends at home and
overseas. We take this opportunity, therefore, of asking all
our readers to help to make
THE
POLICE
JOURNAL
better
known. And we appeal to those who are not at present our
supporters to aid our efforts by becoming subscribers.
The
venture is also one of faith as regards the contents
which will make up our future numbers. Unlike most
publications, the supply of articles for
THE
POLICE
JOURNAL
which is sent up for consideration is far below the amount
required. Accordingly we appeal to all ranks, both at home
and overseas, to send in such contributions.
The
type of
article which we are specially glad to receive is that which
describes some recent case of crime and which shows the
