In the play Macbeth's title is Thane of Glamis. The real 14th-century Glamis Castle has been dubbed the most haunted place in Scotland.
ghosts' sighted there include a terrifying tongueless woman and Earl Beardie who lost his soul to the Devil. He's said to lean over sleeping visitors in a suit of armour. Ghastly moans have also been heard coming from walls where skeletons were later found, while the "Monster of Glamis", a deformed boy reckoned to have been imprisoned...
