'Freak storms' to blame

A number of high-profile games have now been postponed at Dens but Dundee managing director Nelms claims all of them have been outwith their control.

Nelms (inset) said: "The pitch is fine. You have to remember we have had five named storms that have caused issues.

"For whatever reason, Dundee got hit really, really bad.

"For the Aberdeen game, we thought if we delayed it we could have got it on. We trained on the park after it.

"Only on Wednesday, the pitch played perfectly well. "It is just the fact from Wednesday we have had a lot of heavy rain and last night we got some more heavy rain.

"That is why we got everyone in as early as possible to try and get the pitch playable.

"The guys are doing a good job and unfortunately Mother Nature got us this time.
