Free meningitis jab offer

Calderdale Council is reporting that there have been a small number of cases of a rare type of meningitis B in the Todmorden area recently. Sadly, this has led to one death

"These cases have all been in older children or younger adults. National evidence suggests that the risk of catching meningitis is greater in this age group. As a result, there will be a drop-in clinic in Todmorden for a free meningitis B vaccination," says the council.

This is for all 16 to 24 year olds - or those who turn 16 by the end of August 2022 - who live in an OL14 postcode.

Those eligible will get a personal invitation via text message from their GP.

An appointment for the second one will be arranged by the GP.

Those eligible for the vaccine will also get a letter from Calderdale Council Public Health. This will explain in more detail about meningitis B and drop-in...
