The party's polling numbers are in freefall as only 19% of voters said they would back them, according to the Ipsos poll

It is the Conservatives' lowest score since the market research company started its regular voting survey in 1978.

There was further bad news for the PM as his own satisfaction rating fell to minus 59 - level with Ipsos's all-time record low for a premier, set by John Major in 1994. Just 16% of people said they are satisfied with the job Biggles is doing as PM, with 75% saying they are dissatisfied.
