The owner of the offending dog fled the area after the attack

The owner of the husky said the 'bully' breed 'came from nowhere' and 'launched a frenzied attack' on her 10-year-old husky as she and a friend entered Seymour Park by the railway bridge on Friday evening (April 12).

Ana, 33, described the scene as 'the most traumatic of my life' as she watched the attack and attempted to protect her other dog.

Ana, from Liverpool, had been viewing houses in the local area and walked to Seymour Park "to see if it was a nice area to walk with the dogs", she said.

She was walking 12-year-old husky Meeko behind her friend, who walked 10-year-old Siberian husky Diesel.

Ana, who requested we do not use her surname for fear of reprisal, said: "At the very last step of this bridge at the entrance of the park, this dog came from nowhere, from the dark across the field to attack us. It was completely unexpected.

"I was just trying to protect my older dog and myself but what I saw was this bully dog came from nowhere and attacked my dog. He wouldn't let go; it was hard to separate the dog from my dog because he wouldn't let go."

Ana said the attack continued for 'at least a couple of minutes' before the owner of the bully breed came over and helped to separate the dogs.

She described the dog as an American bulldog or Staffordshire bull terrier.

Ana added: "I experienced the most traumatic scene of my life and I can imagine that it could be much worse if it was a kid or if my friend was not with me at that moment."

Diesel suffered a broken leg and jaw in the attack as well as damage to his gums that resulted in a lost canine tooth.
