The Gaming Machine Licence Duty (Variation of Monetary Limits and Exemptions) Order 1986

The Commissioners of Customs and Excise, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 22(3) of and by paragraph 3 of Schedule 4 to the Betting and Gaming Duties Act 1981(a) (hereinafter called "the Act") and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Gaming Machine Licence Duty (Variation of Monetary Limits and Exemptions) Order 1986, and shall come into operation on 1st January 1987.

2. The Gaming Machine Licence Duty (Exemptions) Order 1983(b) is hereby revoked.

3. In section 22(2) of the Act(c) (small-prize machines) for "£3" there shall be substituted "£4".

4. In paragraph 2 of Schedule 4 to the Act(d) (pleasure fairs)—

(a) in sub-paragraph (2)(b), for "£1.50" (in both places) there shall be substituted "£2", and for "£3" (in both places) there shall be substituted "£4";

(b) in sub-paragraph (3), for "£3" (in all three places) there shall be substituted "£4"; and

(c) in sub-paragraph (4), for "£1.50" there shall be substituted "£2".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This Note is not part of the Order.)

This Order increases the maximum amount (in money or money's worth) which a gaming machine may pay out for a single game if it is to qualify as a small-prize machine.
