German financial supervisory authority, BaFin and the nation's central bank, Bundesbank, have announced guidelines for banks when they invest in Spezialfonds.

The regulators have stipulated that lenders need to hold a maximum 5 percent of investments in the vehicles on their balance sheets. The regulators also said that lenders should consider the aggregate holdings from direct business and fund business when considering individual issuers.
