Bruno will be heading to the United States with Brazil with two more friendly games in June against Mexico and America before the main Copa America tournament gets under way.

Bruno told The Chronicle: "It's taken a lot of energy from me. I am very tired after international football and 90-plus minutes. I think I have played around 52 games for club and country this season. There's nine games to go and then after that the Copa America.

"This season I have given everything I have. In the end I hope it will be worth it for me but I am going to give everything, to be honest I am a little bit tired!" For Bruno, the 2023/24 season has been both a mental and physical test of his skills after finding himself on the brink of a two-game ban because of his yellow card tally.

The former Lyon star must get beyond the home game against Tottenham Hotspur later this month before he can play more freely.

He said: "It's Tottenham at home so it's two or three more games, it's getting close. I remember when I got on to nine yellow cards was 12 or so games ago or something. I think I have done well to get it this close and to avoid that yellow card.
