Recognizing that the field of population studies has broadened considerably, and in
order to deal more adequately and in depth with some very important specific topics,
the Council of the Union has decided to organize specialized conferences. The first one
will be a conference on economic demography.
At the kind invitation presented jointly by Vaestoliitto, the Finnish Population and
Family Welfare Federation represented by its Population Research Institute, the De-
mographic Society of Finland and the Central Statistical Office of Finland, the Confer-
ence will take place in Helsinki, Finland from Monday
