Swift's new LP The Tortured Poets Department is thought to be about relationships with Matt Healy and Joe Alwyn, rarely painting them in a favourable light

And PSB's Neil Tennant isn't a big fan of artists airing their dirty laundry: "This is my complaint. Writing about 'self' is the only subject now.

"To have a successful pop career now you have to have a series of relationships which are amazing and then break up tragically. I sometimes wonder what the other half of the relationship feels about this.

"I don't think in the world of mainstream pop people write songs like (Culture Club's) Karma Chameleon anymore.

"It is down to a desire for a col- lective experience. I like that fact that it brings people together but the one disappointing thing is the music, not the lyrics."

PSB freely admit while they're not "immersed in modern pop music" anymore they do "pay attention to it".

New album Nonetheless features some of their most sparkling and emotional pop creations in many years.

And Neil still loves making music: "Chris (Lowe) and I wrote a million songs in lockdown and Chris got me to program songs, which I've never done before.
