Now the midfielder, 22, has vowed to get the finger out as Rangers fight tooth and nail to get their push for the Treble back on track

The Ivory Coast youngster suffered a broken thumb in this month's Ibrox Old Firm draw.

That forced him to miss out as Gers suffered serious title slip-ups away to Ross County and Dundee to leave Philippe Clement's side three points behind Premiership leaders Celtic.

But Diomande, who returned to action in last Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final win over Hearts, said: "My thumb's all right now. I feel a little bit of pain but it's OK.

"I don't really remember how it happened! I thought I could play on. During the second half I started to play but I was feeling a lot of pain.

"It's very frustrating to miss games because I don't play basketball - I play with my feet.

"It was frustrating not to be in the team to help the other boys. We tried to find a way that would allow me to be involved but a scan showed I'd broken my thumb and needed surgery.

"But it's back in place and I'm back playing now. Is winning trophies still the aim this season?

"Yeah, that would be perfect for me. That was one of the reasons I joined this club.
