Jurgen Klopp makes major Pep Lijnders admission despite new Liverpool contract

Lijnders and fellow assistant manager Peter Krawietz joined Klopp in penning new deals on Thursday that will keep them at Anfield until 2026

The Dutchman has long made clear his desire of another move into management having briefly left the Reds for an unsuccessful stint as boss of NEC Nijmegen in 2018.

And while convinced Lijnders has plenty of time to become a success as a manager in his own right, Klopp believes Liverpool remains the right place for him at present.

"I know Pep will be an outstanding manager in the future," said the Reds boss. "I really enjoy working together -and Pete K -and we bought fully into this project. He is not even 40 yet so that is a long time after all this to be by yourself. At the moment we all enjoy the work here together.

"His own ambitions will never stop and I will never stop it. I am a pretty experienced elder generation manager. Crazy to say that, but it is the truth. My big strength is I bring in really good people and then let them flourish.
