Jambos boss Naismith knows only too well the demoralising effect knee injuries can have after suffering two serious ligament tears during his playing days.

But, after watching McKay fight back for a second time this season, Naisy is sure he'll have a big part to play with a Scottish Cup semi with former club Rangers coming up.

The 29-year-old's been a secondhalf sub in the Jambos' last two outings and Naisy said: "Baz is now an experienced player and leader.

"His day-to-day routine is really good. The frustration is that he does all that then gets an injury which sets him back for months. What chance have you got?

"He has been really strong. With this second injury, I've been surprised at how hard he has worked.

"When I did my second knee injury, I was deflated. To have two really bad injuries that close together, there could be that element of, 'I'm writing this season off.'.

"But he's not. He's been the opposite. I'd say he's worked harder this time...
