Small and mighty Langer Dan repeated his 2023 Coral Cup heroics - the first back-to-back winner in its 31-year history

Then Unexpected Party gave the Skeltons extra reason to celebrate in the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase.

"We shouldn't get away from how special this place is - and how hard it is to win," said winning rider Harry Skelton.

"It's our Olympics. We want to win 365 days of the year, but these four days are just a little bit more important."

The pair are sons of showjumper Nick Skelton, who became Britain's oldest Olympic gold medallist for more than a century in 2022.

From his Alcester base, Dan has jumped into second in the trainers' championship.

He splits two champions - Nicky Henderson and his former boss Paul Nicholls - who are yet to win at the Festival this week.

At a meeting Ireland have dominated, Langer Dan temporarily halted their momentum at his favourite meeting.
